Welcome to Joshua's Place

Welcome! This site has been a part of my digital footprint since the early 2000s, serving as a time capsule for the early chapters of my adult life. While I keep this space online as a reflection of where I started, my journey has evolved quite a bit since this site was last updated.

baptisms a Result from LTC Involvement?

There were 3 baptisms at church Sunday morning! It was a very emotional time for the members, as it was John Risse’s last Sunday. He is moving to Tennessee, and I would like to say that we will all miss him. One of the three baptisms just happened to be one of the boys I chaperoned last weekend at LTC. He gave me some minor trouble, just because he was hyperactive. I was hyperactive myself as a child, so I…

Busy Giving Widescreen Advocate A Makeover

I am also in the process of converting Widescreen Advocate over to a no-frames, table less layout. The main page layout is already done, so the only thing left to do is clean up the html and finish the style sheet. …

LTC Convention a Success!

We got home from LTC earlier today. My puppet group did pretty well, in spite of a loudspeaker announcement at the hotel during our performance. We won’t know if we won any awards until later tomorrow. We will also be performing next Sunday at Southern Hills! This was my first year at LTC, and although it was not as much of an event as I consider Lads to Leaders to be, I had a good time, got to meet some…

Almost Time for LTC Trip!

Later this morning I have to leave for Dallas, because I’m going to LTC this weekend. The convention is at the Anatole Hotel, but we will be staying at the Days Inn. I’m coaching puppets this year, and it’s going quite well, even though we got off to a late start. I am hoping we can have a few more run-throughs at the hotel tomorrow night, before our performance Saturday morning. I have been working hard for the last few…

Trouble Registering for Classes!

I attempted to register for classes at TSTC today, but ACU will not release my transcript until my billing hold is cleared. Unfortunately the organization that agreed to give me a scholarship did not pay for my tuition for the last semester I took. I’ll have to call them next week and find out what the hold up is. …

Purchased New Receiver!

I just purchased a new receiver this weekend, and hooked it up to the rest of our home theater system, so we finally have Dolby Digital surround sound in our home. I am very happy with my purchase, and I have been enjoying re-watching a few of the films in my DVD collection with better sound. Now we just need some new speakers, because our current ones fizzle if they are turned up too loud. …

Revoke Michael Moore’s Oscar

It just came to my attention that the Oscar Michael Moore received for the film Bowling for Columbine was awarded to piece of work that is not even a documentary, but rather a work of fiction. There are many things that were changed to fit his Anti-American agenda. The Academy’s own rules state that they cannot give an award to a film in the documentary category if the film is not factual. To see a list of a few of…

Going Back to School!

I have decided that I’m not going back to ACU. It’s just too expensive, and their program isn’t what I need to learn best. As much as I will miss my friends, and the wonderful Christian environment, I will most likely go to Texas Tech instead, since they have a better curriculum for their Digital Media program. It’s a more hands on approach that what ACU has, which is more theory based. Larry Sanders, who is The Dean of Academics…

Coaching Puppets for LTC

I found out Wednesday that our church will be doing puppets this year for Leadership Training for Christ. I had volunteered to be the puppet coach earlier this year, but they really waited till the last minute to make the final decision to go ahead with the event. The convention is in just four weeks, so we don’t have much time to practice. My team has three 8th graders, one 6th grader, and one 3rd grader. What a mix! I…

Very Little Catering Events Lately

Because of Spring Break, there hasn’t been many catering events for two weeks now, but I have been pretty busy with other tasks. I haven’t had much time to post because our phone line has not been working well for the past week, and connecting to the Internet from home has been a major pain! …
