I’ve been pretty busy this week. I found a roommate the other day, and I am going to move in this Saturday. It’s not the apartment that I really wanted, but it will do. It’s small, but it has a decent-sized bedroom, which is big enough for two people, and it’s very close to campus. It will come in handy during lectureship.
I was surfing the IRS web site, and I noticed that you can file a tax return for previous years. Since I didn’t file last year, I am going to file for 2001 and 2002 this year. I will probably use one of the free e-file services listed on the IRS web site. There is no penalty for filing late. The extra money will come in handy.
In an effort to compete with the peer-to-peer file sharing services, several of the music labels are gearing up for the launches of several online music services. The services, which let you download a limited number of songs for a monthly fee, are attempting to recover some cash from people who prefer to download music, rather than pay ridiculously high prices for a CD filled with one or two hits, and 13 songs they won’t listen too. I think it’s a good idea. What they fail to realize, is that the people who are most likely to use this service, are still going to download the songs first on free services, to find out what music they want to purchase.
