The polling out there often over-samples democrats and independents, and under-samples republicans. The polling firms often question registered voters, not likely voters. Also, many republicans are unhappy with Bush right now, but it’s because he is not conservative enough. The same is true with many of our congress people. Those people, who have indicated they don’t approve of the job that Bush is doing, are not likely to vote democrat. They are likely to work even harder to elect more conservative congress people. That’s actually how I feel. I’m upset with Bush on several agenda items, such as the federal budget, and border control. With some of the spineless republicans we have, I want to campaign harder for conservative candidates all across the nation. And a lot can happen between now and November. So don’t pay much attention to those polls. Just go out and support your favorite candidate.
On that note, I would like to present to you some of the candidates I’m going to be supporting for election this November. A few of my candidates are running against democrats. And one is running against a RINO (Republican in Name Only). So please send your best donation to some of these well deserved candidates.
Steve Laffey is running against RINO Lincoln Chaffey, the current liberal republican senator who voted against Samuel Alito, and among republicans, has a 38% approval rating. Among democrats, he has a 65% approval rating. Steve, on the other hand is the Mayor of Rhode Island, and has a history of strong conservatism.
Katherine Harris is running against democrat Ben Nelson of Florida, and I believe that race is out best chance of a republican pickup, since she is running against a democrat in a state that continues to get redder. Harris is well known in the state of Florida, and is a strong conservative worth supporting. She just entered the senate race, and is already polling only 10 points behind the incumbent Nelson. This will be a hard fought race, and it may be close, but she can win it.
Mike McGavick is running against Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington, a state that almost went red in 2004. In the 2004 Govenor’s race, Dino Rossi, the republican candidate beat the democrat candidate, Christine Gregoire by 261 votes. After two recounts, Gregoire was declared the winner by a mere 129 votes, but there were numerous reports of thousands of illegal votes cast. In 2006, all elections will be held electronically, so it will be much harder for democrats to find mystery ballots.
Michael Steele is running for the open democrat seat in Maryland, which Paul Sarbanes is retiring from. Michael is a very well liked candidate, and he is very smart. I think Steel has a good chance of winning this seat. He is also an African American, who will be running against a white democrat. He may pull out enough of the black vote to get a win.
Tom Kean is running against Robert Menendez of New Jersey. Jon Corzine, the democratic senator who is retiring from his seat, has a history of bad political deals and because of that, it appears that the people of New Jersey are disgusted with the democratic party in their state. The latest Strategic Vision poll indicates that this race is a dead heat. New Jersey has been a blue state for some time, but so many people are fed up with the democrat’s corruption in this state, that we could eek out a win.
If we win these five races, and if all the other GOP incumbents win, we will have a supermajority in the senate. That would be totally wonderful. Now you ask, what would the results of a supermajority be? We would probably have:
Drilling for oil in ANWR
A smaller budget, one with cuts to social programs, and less pork
A Border Fence
More conservative appellate judges confirmed
