State of the Union & Democrat Response

If you missed the State of the Union earlier, it is a must read. His address to the nation was hard-hitting, optimistic, and dramatic. The President set forth his goals for a second term, and in doing so, presented a very strong agenda. Tonight’s speech was the best one that President Bush has given since he was elected to office four years ago. He clearly wants results. He isn’t going to be satisfied with the status quo, because he wants change. And he isn’t gonna let liberal girlie-men get in the way of accomplishing his goals. The American people are behind him. There was thunderous applause throughout the speech. Even the democrats appluaded several times. When he spoke of the Iraqi election, the joy the people showed in being able to vote for the first time in their lives, and when he told the story of the Iraqi woman who had lost her husband, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
If you watched the democrat response to the speech, you should read the RNC’s Fact Check. And if you didn’t see it, there’s no need. The appropriate sections are quoted in the fact check. Once again, the democrat response is full of talking points, hyperbole, and just plain wrong information. Read it for yourself. It’s actually amazing that they cannot understand that Americans don’t trust them anymore. They think that Americans who don’t agree with them are uninformed or mis-guided. They don’t realize that this behavior is exactly what will ensure that their party stays out of power for several generations. And I for one, hope they keep heading down this path.
And just what is the media saying about the speech? Some very good things! Even the left-leaning Chris Matthews had good things to say. I’m actualy quite surprised. Wait, no I’m not. When a speech is that good, it’s hard to critique it without appearing off your rocker. Everyone who watched the speech knows that it was a Grand Slam.
