I’m Building a New PC!
11/19/2004
It’s time for me to get a new PC, because my current system is so slow that I cannot use the apps I need for school. Or for fun, either! The computer I have now is an ancient Pentium 233 MHz system that I got at an auction for about 15 dollars, and naturally it’s really slow. Since none of the components are re-usable, I have decided to build an entirely new system from the ground up. I have decided to build an AMD system, because I can get a much faster processor for less than the cost of an Intel system. Below is a list of the hardware I have purchased.
- Aspire Black Turbo Case
- ASUS NFORCE2 A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard
- AMD Athlon XP 2700 Processor
- 256 MB Kingston Technology 2700 DDR Memory
- 512 MB Kingston Technology 2700 DDR Memory
- ATI Radeon 9200SE (128MB) Video Accelerator
- Western Digital 80 GB Hard Drive
- NEC 16x DVD/CD Burner Combo Drive
- Sony 16x DVD-ROM Drive
- Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Desktop
- Cyber Acoustics 2.1 Speaker System
- HP PSC 1209 Color All-In-One Printer
I’m also using a component from my brother’s new PC, which he replaced with another component.
- Western Digital 40 GB Hard Drive
I’d like to get a new flat-panel monitor too, but I’ve already spent over $800 on this system, and I just don’t have the extra cash right now. I’ll probably have the new system set up by Tuesday. Naturally, I am really excited!
